Leave Management > Leave Types and Entitlements > Sick and Hospital Leave > Reimbursements for Medical Consultation Fees

An employee is entitled to be reimbursed for the cost of a medical consultation if the following requirements are met:

  1. They have worked for at least 3 months for their current employer; and
  2. The medical consultation resulted in at least one day of paid sick leave; and
  3. A medical certificate was issued by a doctor or dentist, including specialists, practising at either a public medical institution or a company-approved private institution.

If an employee falls sick during public holidays, annual leave, rest days or non-working days and is not eligible for paid sick leave on those days, the employee is not eligible to claim reimbursement for the medical consultation fee.

A list of approved public medical institutions can be found on this MOM page.

Employers should communicate a list of company-approved doctors or dentists at private institutions to their employees.
